If "Music is the pure movement of thought" as Schopenhauer once wrote, then painting could be defined the crystallization of emotions nurtured by the sound of that movement.
Music has always worked as a physiologic solution allowing my artistic projects to achieve their poetic and spiritual lubrication, and let them swim in the maelstrom of perceptions. While I was painting this canvas the notes and words of "Song to the siren" written by Tim Buckley and performed by the watery and abyssal voice of Elizabeth Fraser, were constantly playing in my studio, flooding my physical and mental spaces as a tender whirling backwash. I think that diving into the abyss of soul towards the dark and passionate mysteries hidden within, as the text of the song seems to suggest, means somehow to reach the secret altitude of our most human feelings.
The "Painted Sound" group show is like a tracking shot of a greasy sound-scape, namely the ever mutating movie that music will always shoot inside our mind and will project into our heart.
AFAN Alessandro Fantini is featured with his new oil painting "Je ne sais quoi" dedicated to "Song to the siren" composed by Tim Buckley and Larry Beckett in 1968 and sung by Elizabeth Fraser 15 years later on the album "It'll end in tears" by "This Mortal Coil", in the upcoming group show titled "Painted Sound" held at the Flower Pepper Gallery in Old Pasadena, California (USA) from January 26th to February 28th 2013. Keep an eye on this blog and on the group show's website where more news and insights about the event will be revealed in the next weeks:paintedsoundshow.jimdo.com/art…
ROMAFAN
Since the 90s, Rome has been the setting of many human and artistic adventures of mine. During school trips, I never missed the opportunity to sketch details of monuments and alleys in my notebooks, or to hunt for art books in the bookstores of Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori. I wore out my shoes by visiting all the museums, art galleries, foundations, and churches of the city, even coming to perceive the brushstrokes up close while observing a plethora of masterpieces such as those by Caravaggio, Tiziano, Reni, Carracci, Klimt and Guttuso. Along Via Barberini, I crossed paths with Nanni Moretti, whom I filmed for a quarter of an hour as he impassively talked on the phone on his Vespa, as if he had just finished shooting the first episode of “Dear Diary.” Early in the morning, I engaged in a friendly conversation about cinema and music with Lucio Dalla after spotting him sitting alone at a table in Piazza della Repubblica. More than once, I acted as a guide for English

Ab urbe incognita - crowdfunding campaign
Between 2009 and 2014 I've directed three indipendent movies in three different cities, "Nepente" filmed in Rome, "EDOnism" in Tokyo and "New York, a venture" in New York, that would have later formed what I've called "The Hidden Mind Cities trilogy".
Once back in Italy I decided to showcase in a very special way the trilogy and the artistic process directly and indirectly linked to its making.
After some research in Rome I found out that the art gallery "Segni Mutanti - Mutant Signs" has the perfect features for both screening the movies and exhibiting the artworks related to them and their themes.
Since the exhibition management and artw
